(Solved) - Dell Inspiron 1525 64 bit Vista / Windows 7 Drivers including 64 bit quickset
(12 posts)When Dell made the Inspiron 1525 Laptop they produced a Fully compatable 64 bit computer, but sold it with 32 bit windows Vista, and the Driver DVD provided with the computer does not give all of the required drivers to give all of the features that you get as standard with the 32 bit vista software.
I have sourced all the required drivers including Quickset so that you can get all the features that you get with the 32 bit version.
All the drivers are compatable with Windows 7 PROVIDING YOU RUN THE INSTALER EXE file in compatability mode as for Windows Vista

And btw. Virtually all computers that come with a 32bit OS, are also 64bit compatible. The main problem being, the chipsets might not accept more than 2 or 4GB of RAM. Gothic medium font download. So a waste of time installing 64bit OS.
I am running 4 gb of ram no problems the drivers are not all in one place on the dell website and I spent a lot of hours searching there site untill I got genuine compatable drivers.

If you did not remove the link that is perfictly safe there would be no need to give the website to search for it I have 4gb of ram installed and use a further 4gb readyboost and the hardware uses the readyboost so it will run 8gb and I had origonaly put the infomation on a page without my domain name to comply with the rules

Just a comment about this thread of gbarn88347. I also have the same 1525 Inspiron and when I go to Dell website for any updated drivers I only get access to the original laptop drivers. Vista 32bit, even though I upgraded to win7. I have tried repeatedly to get it changed to the win7 but no-no. Guess once the mfg plugs the serial number in the computer with the spec's that's it.
The same with my other Dell which was originally an OEM Vista machine but was purchased as a downgraded system to XP. When I access Dell's site I can only get the drivers for Vista. This sort of helped if I ever want to upgrade this one to Vista.

LH, Yes, but you have to enter a model and once that's entered then it prompts me for model number. Now I get 2 choices Vista 32bit or XP.
They have pulldowns for each step and you can't go further without entering something.
That is why it took me so long to find the genuine correct vista / windows 7 drivers. for that reason I added a page on one of my websites where all the correct dell 64 bit drivers for the 1525 can be downloaded, so that other people dont have to spend lots of hours trying to find the correct drivers, but the Moderator keeps removing the link.
for windows 7 you have to run the exe files in compatability mode, as some of the drivers check to make sure they will install.
