Does Hotspot Shield Protect the Use of Utorrent?

I bought Hotspot shield so I could torrent (TOTALLY NOT PIRATING) things, and I have reason to believe that Hotspot shield doesn't protect my Utorrent:

1st reason is that my total downloaded ammount doesn't rise as fast as it should be, considering I'm torrenting.

2nd reason is that I just now read some rumors on the internet that it doesn't work with torrenting and Netflix (which I already have Hola for that)

Can anyone confirm/deny my thoughts and claims of Hotspot Shield?
