I have a HP Officejet J4680. I only have a black cartridge in it. Color is empty. I cannot get it to print other than a test page.
It says it is offline and in error state. What do I need to do to get it to print?

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I understand that you are unable to print and the printer is showing as Offline
I'll try my best to help
I suggest you restart the Router and perform a Printer Reset
If file is multipart don't forget to check all parts before downloading! How to download paid in full movie zip files to my device? (1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed
Then download and run the HP Print And Scan Doctor from this Link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe
Run PSDR v5.0.2
Once the PSDR detects the Printer, it will show up the IP address and Software Status.
Select the correct Printer and click on Next.
PSDR will check if the Printer is on the Network and communication between the PC and the Printer. Once the connection check is done, click on Fix Printing
Once PSDR goes through all checks and automatic fixes, click on Print a test page.
Regardless if PSDR printed the test page or not, click on “NO PRINT”
PSDR will then notify you that there is an update available, click on continue, and PSDR will apply the patch and ask for a reboot.
Post restart the PSDR will run automatically to check for more issue. If no issue found close PSDR.
If the issue persists, let's assign a Manual IP to the Printer
1) Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can Print a Network Configuration Page to obtain the IP Address
2) Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
3) Go to 'Network' tab - General - Select 'Network protocols' - Select 'Enable IPv4 only' (or similar) - Apply the settings.
4) Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
5) Click Manual IP
6) If you see a Suggest a Manual IP Address button, click Manual IP address, and the Manual IP addresses are automatically filled out for you.
7) If your page does not have a button to suggest a manual IP address, type the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway using the numbers shown in the report you printed
Keep me posted how it goes and if you need further assistance
Thank you :)
